SEARCH
TRIGON offers a unique,
highly competitive approach to retainer based search
differentiating us from our competitors. This was
developed in response to client complaints about negative
experiences with other retainer search companies whose
services they had retained. These include: large up-front
fees, monthly retainer charges, plus all expenses
incurred with the search. In addition, these fees
were paid whether or not a candidate was successfully
introduced.
A number of clients indicated that
the firms they had retained had not undertaken the
search with any real urgency, perhaps because they
were secure with a large up front fee committing the
client to an exclusive search and were distracted
by other searches or the winning of new business.
Certain searches had dragged on for over a year. Some
search firms seemed to reduce the effort they were
putting into the search after the client had failed
to extend offers to short-listed candidates or prospective
candidates had turned down potential offers . This
may include a refusal to undertake assignments where
the expected annual salary is less than
a certain level or through a reluctance to assist
in helping firms fill more junior, but in many ways
equally important, positions within a company, because
these positions don't generate
as much revenue.
TRIGON addresses
these potential grievances by offering the following:
We seek a small up-front retainer
fee as an indication of the client's trust in our
ability to complete the assignment and a commitment
on the client's behalf to work with us exclusively
for a predetermined period.
Our Consultants are experienced in
operating in highly aggressive and competitive success-based
searches and have the energy to complete the search
with the minimum of fuss. We
are extremely pro-active, producing credible short-lists
within 2 to 4 weeks. Should we miss
the mark with the first round of candidates introduced,
we work even more closely with the client to identify
how our search can be more effective.
We are more than happy to continue
to build up more junior positions within the company
and see ourselves as on-going partners with our clients.
We do not refuse retainer searches
simply on the grounds that the expected annual salary
is below a certain level. Even though we try to accommodate
potential client needs wherever possible, TRIGON is
not afraid to turn down potential retainers where
we feel either we lack expertise in that particular
area or we feel the client's expectations for the
potential
candidate are unrealistic.

TRIGON takes the
following approach to Retained Searches:
A team approach to retainers wherein
each retainer is assigned to a small consulting and
research unit under the direct supervision of a Director
who is available anytime to answer client queries;
Detailed reports at regular intervals explaining the
search progress, candidate feedback and useful market
and competitor information; Exclusivity regarding
candidate introductions until the client rejects any
potential candidate from the search process; An on-going
commitment to work with the client to fill further
retainers at more junior levels; Consultation on other
areas outside of the hiring of new candidates where
required. We strongly recommend retainer searches
for:
Sensitive high-level searches.
Where the position involves a replacement
of an individual who has not yet been told his services
will be terminated.
Where the client has perceptual problems
attracting the right candidates.
Where the position is of such a senior
nature that the client wishes to indicate its sincerity
and make a statement to the market in retaining a
professional, forward-thinking search agency to represent
it.
